Safia is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice moves across material, spatial, and image-based forms, exploring perception, movement, and architecture.

Working with everyday and utilitarian materials, she uses gesture, repetition, and scale through installation to change how they are perceived and experienced. Contrasts between hard and soft, transparent and opaque, structured and fragile recur throughout the work. More recently, these materials have taken the form of suspended and screen-like structures that divide, frame, and activate space. Photography is an important part of her process, particularly images of reflective, transitional, and architectural spaces. These observations inform her approach to surface, composition, and material.

Informed by Giuliana Bruno’s writing on screen materiality, she approaches installation as a form of drawing and painting in space.
